Hydrated alumina is a fine granular white powder. The hydrated version of alumina remains in suspension better in glaze and has better adhesive qualities than alumina oxide. Used in glazes to increase hardness, aid stabilization and help resist crazing. Commonly used as a kiln wash for salt glazing.
